2007 Player Of The Year Competition - The POTY

The objective of the Player Of The Year Award (POTY) is to recognise consistent play throughout the MGA season which is a mainly team environment. It is awarded at the year end party after the last tournament of the season.

We have only included events open to all. Events that are limiting (e.g member guest)are excluded.

The assumption is that handicaps are there for a reason so other than Club Championship and Medal Play, points will be awarded for net play only .

It's a points based system as it seems that we need to keep it simple .

We have 3 single player events (Medal, Championship, and Match Play) although we will add something for any that might qualify for both ( Bubba and Polar Bear are two that come to mind and in these cases you will receive half the points you would have made as part of a team, .i.e if you are 3rd individual you will get half the points of an individual in a third place team). All the rest are either two or four man events.

Please note that we have included match play points, but only those earned by the year end party will be counted, just an extra incentive to "git er done".

Current results will be posted on the web site. Questions will be answered with a blank stare because the simple answer is "It is what it is".

We have treated each event as worth a total of approx 1200 points with the majors worth slightly more. The reason for that number is simple. It can be divided into one, two and three man teams and one two three and four flights
